The Visions of Peace-Building
The project focused on the delivery of a series of exhibitions, seminars, training events across Belfast for women, anchored around a photographic exhibition based on images of women involved in peacebuilding or conflict resolution locally and globally.
In December 2011 an application was made to Belfast City Council under measure 1.1 – Building positive relations - at the local level of the Peace Programme (Peace III) to fund the Visions of Peacebuilding Project.
Produced a travelling exhibition roadshow. This included large-scale interactive portraits of 6 women, displayed with biographies and information on their unique role in peacebuilding
Delivered seminar / training events for groups of local women with bespoke courses focused on the role of women in peacebuilding and examining how seminar participants can contribute within their own communities and beyond
Aimed for 240 participants to avail of the training provided, including dialogue training, confidence- building, personal development and UNSCR 1325
Set a target of 96 participants to undertake OCR Level 2 Reconciliation
Encouraged an additional 8 participants to share their unique role in peacebuilding to be incorporated in the photographic exhibition. These 8 will be participants who have benefited from training delivered throughout the project.
Published a research report detailing the contribution of women locally to peacebuilding – based in part on the contributions of training seminar participants.
