GSTB

Give Sectarianism the Boot

The GSTB Project funded under The Executive Office’s Central Good Relations Fund 2017/18 will utilise cross-community football coaching sessions with 6 women’s football clubs.

It will reach 60 young women in various areas by involving them in IFA standard football training increasing inter-community contact as well as various other activities outside of traditional male led youth club activities.

The  project will also offer good relations training to participants through less conventional means by engaging with the young women around areas of interest adding to their engagement and retention on the programme.

The culmination of the Project will involve a 'Festival of Football' event where the 60 participants will come together to play in a football tournament as well as present what they have learnt/undertaken to spectators as well as the new friendships they have developed.

Give Sectarianism the Boot and Ripples in the Pond project closing conference

TWN were delighted to receive funding for 4 different Good Relations Projects for the 2018/19 year.

A Give Sectarianism the Boot project for young women in football, Ripples in the Pond for Derry/Londonderry groups and the 2 projects which had their closing conference on Wednesday 27 March 2019.

We were delighted that Robin Swann, leader of the UUP and MLA was able to join, showing his support for this vital work which acts as an encouragement to participants. Robin took the opportunity to engage with the women and hear the stories from their communities on the issues which affect their daily lives.
