Women Came Together for the Final Conference
The Young Women undertook ILM Level 2 Award for Young Leaders and unaccredited Level 1 and 2 Peace and Reconciliation, unaccredited UNSCR 1325, in addition to Politics for Youth community dialogue programme (a Women into Politics course).
The local partners also delivered cross community networking events, intergenerational events, and a personal development programme.
Working with professional artist Eimear O’Cailte and amateur young artist Jassmyn Cairns, the young women’s groups designed a tree of their vision of a shared future.
At the final event, the women came together for a conference at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Special guests and speakers included
Kelly Andrews, vice-chair of TWN, delivered the welcome and chaired the evening
Patricia Lewsley-Mooney CBE, chair of TWN and former politician, led a dialogue with local politicians, including Dolores Kelly MLA, Joanne Bunting MLA, Cllr Karen Douglas, Cllr Mairéad O'Donnell
Catherine Ferrin, Belfast and Lisburn Women’s Aid, performed a one-woman sketch on the effects of domestic violence
Jemma McGrath, Make Up Your Life, delivered an inspirational speech on overcoming obstacles and creating a positive future
