L3 Award - First Line Management
The Award is a concise qualification which gives an introduction to the basic skills, knowledge and understanding required by today's first line manager. The mandatory unit 'Solving Problems and Making Decisions' is designed to develop practical techniques for tackling managerial problems and making decisions from gathering and interpreting information through to the effective communication of outcomes.
L4 Award - First Line Management
The aims to give managers the foundation for their formal development in this role. The qualification does this by exploring the middle manager role, and to develop the skills needed in such a role and also to prepare candidates for the more rigorous demands of study at the higher levels. The Award is a concise qualification designed to develop basic middle management skills and knowledge
Rationale for the qualification
This has been developed in response to an identified need for a qualification for those learners who wish to progress from a L3 First Line Management qualification, but who may find the gap to a Level 5 (equating to second year degree level) too ambitious.
This qualification forms a valuable bridge from Level 3 to Level 5, with the additional benefit of allowing 8 credits to be carried forward to a Level 5 Certificate or Diploma.
L5 Award in Management
This qualification is designed to give practicing or aspiring middle managers a solid foundation in their formal development in this role. The Award is a concise qualification designed to develop basic middle management skills and knowledge. The mandatory unit examines organisational structure and function, the roles and responsibilities of middle managers and the effect of communication and interpersonal skills on managerial performance. The final element of the unit explores the evaluation of personal development opportunities.
L6 Award in Management
This course is designed to provide practicing or potential senior managers with a solid foundation for their formal development in this role.
This concise qualification also forms a valuable bridge from Level 5 to Level 7, with the additional benefit of allowing 12 credits to be carried forward to a Level 7 Certificate or Diploma in Executive Management or 6 credits towards a Level 7 Certificate or Diploma in Strategic Leadership. Therefore it is an ideal qualification for organisations seeking incremental management development for its personnel.
L7 Award - Executive Management
This qualification has been specially designed to give practicing or potential senior managers critical evaluative skills for their formal development in this role.
The Award is a concise qualification aimed at developing senior management skills and knowledge required at this level. The mandatory unit, ‘Making informed decisions’, examines different decision making strategies and their uses – assessing their relative strengths and weaknesses. Participants then research and employ appropriate strategies in an area relevant to their role.
